A good night’s sleep is essential for your well-being during the day. Here are some tricks to make sure your night’s rest is really great!
Keep a notebook by the bed.If you happen to be lying in bed and get some idea or remember an important task, it is always better to write it down so that you will remember it in the morning. This will help you relax.
Try to visualize something pleasantor play a nice movie in your head. This will employ your brain and make it easier to relax or forget about worries and obligations, and consequently make it easier to fall asleep.
Give up stimulants a few hours before bed. Alcohol, caffeine and nicotine negatively affect sleep, so do not consume them for at least three hours before bedtime.
Don’t toss around. Research has shown that it is better if, after ten or twenty minutes of unsuccessful attempts to fall asleep, you get up and do something boring outside the bedroom for a while. By doing this, you will teach your body that the bed is a place to sleep, not to ponder ideas and thoughts.
Try to keep as little technology as possible in your bedroom. It’s better if you’re watching TV or using a computer in another room so you can more easily switch to ‘sleep mode’ when you’re lying in bed. Reading in bed can be a great form of bedtime relaxation.
Try to follow the same routine every night. For example, if you notice that you sleep better an hour before bed after a warm bath, try making bathing a habit. Also, try to go to bed at the same time every day.
If you sleep less one night, go to bed the next night about an hour earlier to catch up on sleep.
